Festive Christmas Lunch in Rhuddlan Community Centre

Mike 3.jpg

There was a very festive atmosphere at the fortnightly Lunch Club in Rhuddlan’s Community Centre.  Everyone received an excellent Christmas lunch with all the usual trimmings.  There was also a quiz and a raffle and everyone went home with a gift.

Cllr. Arwel Roberts, Mayor of Rhuddlan and a regular supporter of the Lunch Club, said we all had a great afternoon, the food and the company was excellent – I really do have to congratulate the small voluntary team that runs the Lunch Club – they provide a super two course meal every fortnight for just £4 – this is not only excellent value but it also gives many people who live on their own the opportunity to get together with other people.  Three cheers to the GEM team (Gill, Ellen and Maggie) and their friends for all of their hard work throughout the year.

The next Lunch Club in Rhuddlan Community Centre is Friday 17th January – doors open at 11am for a meal at 12 o’clock.

Coffee, mince pies and Carols in Rhuddlan

Mike 2.jpg

Rhuddlan Dementia Group had a great coffee morning with a mince pies and carols.  The event was held to promote the Group’s work in providing information about dementia within Rhuddlan as well as publicising the Group’s activities such as Music Memories and Sit and be Fit, which are open to everyone and are free to attend.

Members of Côr Clwyd came along to the coffee morning to give a boost to the carol singing.  Cllr. Arwel Roberts who is chairman of Côr Clwyd and of the Dementia Group came along in his Santa robes – he said that the event had been very successful – not only have we publicised the work of the Dementia Group but everyone enjoyed the carols and the refreshments and we also raised £140 from the raffle and from donations from people.

Rhuddlan Co-op Supports the Dementia Group

Mike 1.jpg

The Co-op store in Rhuddlan continues to support local voluntary groups.  In the summer the store helped to fund the Dementia Group’s Music Memories sessions which take place every other Tuesday afternoon in Rhuddlan Library.

Recently the store gave the group a Christmas Cracker which contained £25 for the Dementia Group to spend towards its various activities.

The Group’s Secretary, Mike Kermode, said that receiving funds from our local Co-op store is wonderful; it’s great to see an important local business supporting the work of voluntary groups.  The funding we had in the summer paid for a number of Music Memories sessions which meant that we didn’t have to charge people to attend.  This £25 will be used to purchase raffle prizes for our next event which will then generate even more funds for the group.
