The code of conduct is a set of rules about how to behave and do business with other people. All Councillors, when elected, must sign and comply with the Code of Conduct upon taking office.
Financial regulation is a form of regulation or supervision, which subjects community/town councils to certain requirements, restrictions and guidelines, aiming to maintain the integrity of the financial system.
Community / town councils have their own rules for the routine conduct of their business e.g. regular agenda items, the length of time a Councillor can speak on an issue etc.
The Nolan Principles
The Nolan Committee has set out seven principles of public life which it believes should apply to all in public service. There are seven principles of conduct that underpin the work of public authorities.
