I am writing on behalf of the Rhuddlan Nature Reserve Management Committee.

The reserve is open every day with free entry: we welcome visitors of all ages to enjoy the safe open spaces, watching out for dragonflies, birds, butterflies and pond life. But we are now worried about the ducks and especially the swans on the large pond- they are at serious risk of choking and even dying from the bread etc. being fed to them. We realize that throwing bread to feed the birds is an age- old tradition but science now informs us that this feeding is detrimental to the bird’s health.

So, we would like to give children of primary school age the opportunity to design a poster -A4 size- to deter the feeding. We will select 3 or 4 designs to display at the reserve during the summer holidays— [the posters will be laminated]

Posters should be taken to Rhuddlan library   there is a letterbox if library is closed, including name and school address. Alternatively post the entry to:

The best 3 or 4 posters will receive prizes – colourful wildlife books-these are suitable for years 3 and 4 and 5- to be awarded in the Autumn term.
