Rhuddlan Town Council recently hosted a public Wales in Bloom meeting to celebrate the outstanding achievements of local community organisations in the RHS It’s Your Neighbourhood awards and to begin planning for the town’s future participation.
Mayor Cllr Jackie Burnham presented awards to five deserving organisations whose dedication, hard work and community spirit have helped enhance Rhuddlan:
- Rhuddlan Town Community Association – Advancing
- St Mary’s Church, Rhuddlan – Thriving
- Clwb Bowlio Rhuddlan – Outstanding
- Rhuddlan Allotment Society – Outstanding
- Rhuddlan Nature Reserve – Outstanding
Presenting the awards, Mayor Jackie Burnham said:
“Tonight, we had the pleasure of recognising five fantastic community organisations with their Wales in Bloom awards, and we couldn’t be prouder of everyone involved.
“Every one of these awards represents hard work, dedication, teamwork and a genuine passion for making our town a better place to live. A massive well done to everyone who has given their time, energy and enthusiasm to make a positive difference in our community.”
The Mayor emphasised that Wales in Bloom is about far more than flowers, hanging baskets and attractive gardens.
“At its heart, Wales in Bloom is about bringing communities together. It is about people of all ages and backgrounds working alongside one another, celebrating diversity, improving local spaces, supporting community projects, encouraging environmental responsibility and creating pride in where we live.
“It demonstrates what can be achieved when a community works together.”
Rhuddlan has a strong record of success in the competition, having previously achieved Gold in Wales in Bloom and received recognition through Britain in Bloom. Rhuddlan Town Council is now keen to build on this legacy and work towards further success in 2027.
As part of these ambitions, the Council is seeking to establish a dedicated Rhuddlan in Bloom Community Group to help develop projects across the town and prepare for future judging.
Residents, businesses, schools, youth organisations and community groups are all encouraged to get involved. Whether through gardening, environmental initiatives, community projects, volunteering, supporting wildlife or simply sharing ideas, every contribution can make a lasting difference.
The Council would particularly like to hear from:
- Local residents who want to make a difference
- Businesses wishing to support community projects
- Community groups and volunteers
- Local schools and pupils
- Young people and youth organisations
- Brownies, Guides, Scouts, Beavers and other youth groups
- Gardening clubs and environmental organisations
- Anyone with ideas to improve Rhuddlan as a place to live, work and visit
No gardening experience is necessary.
“You don’t need to be a gardener or have a green thumb to get involved. Everyone has something valuable to offer.
“We want Wales in Bloom to bring our whole town together, create opportunities for people of all ages to work side by side, and leave a lasting legacy for future generations.”
