The Opening of Hwb Rhuddlan with a St David’s Day Celebration
Children from Ysgol Y Castell were joined by the Urdd Gobaith Cymru and Rhuddlan Town Councillors to celebrate St David’s Day and officially open the new Hwb Rhuddlan.
Hwb Rhuddlan is located adjacent to Admiral’s Field and consists of two new public toilets (one disabled friendly) and a large internal multi-use space. The building was previously used as a day nursery until it was purchased and refurbished by Rhuddlan Town Council. The Hwb is available to be rented and the Clerk should be contacted to arrange the use of the facility. The two public toilets are open from 8am until 4pm for use by anyone and are close to the MUGA, fresh air gym, play area and the allotments.
During the St David’s Day celebration, the children were very well entertained by Swyn Williams from the Urdd and assisted by Mr Urdd. The activities all had a Welsh theme and the children enthusiastically participated and demonstrated their knowledge of the Welsh language.
The celebration was concluded with the school choir singing some Welsh songs. Rhuddlan Mayor Mike Elgin said “The opening of Hwb Rhuddlan is a culmination of two years of hard work by the Council and the Clerk and it was brilliant to be joined by the pupils and staff from Ysgol Y Castell to help celebrate it’s opening. This wonderful new facility is available to be used by all the residents of Rhuddlan and visitors to Admiral’s Field.
