Rhuddlan residents had a very enjoyable morning when the Library hosted a Memory Café last Friday morning. This was a joint project between the Library and Making Sense CIO.
People we able to handle a great number of memorabilia from the 1950’s and 1960’s that had connections with Rhyl as a seaside venue. People were able to recall not just the articles but the times, locations and their experiences when they might have had them in the past. These recollections led to many interesting chats. In addition, there was tea/coffee and biscuits.
Rhuddlan Mayor Cllr. Mike Kermode and Cllr. Arwel Roberts were at the café session and they are both very active members of Rhuddlan Dementia Group.
Mayor Mike said “This was a really interesting and rewarding café session. It promoted many happy recollections from people and was also another example of the great work that the Library does in promoting community get-togethers and social well-being. Events like this are important for everyone but they can be so valuable and rewarding for people living with dementia. I look forward to seeing more of this type of event in our town.”
