Credu – Connecting Carers hosted a hugely successful Fun Day at Admiral’s Field in Rhuddlan on 13 June, with support from Rhuddlan Town Council. The event welcomed more than 100 young carers and their families from across Denbighshire for a day packed with fun, laughter and community spirit.

Although there was a brisk breeze throughout the day, the weather thankfully remained dry, allowing everyone to make the most of the outdoor activities on offer.

The event was officially opened by Cllr Ann Davies, who has championed the cause of carers in Denbighshire for more than 10 years. Cllr Ann played a key role in securing donations of food and gifts for the event, and spent the day serving refreshments, speaking with stallholders and supporting young carers.

One of the highlights of the event was the opportunity for young carers to throw wet sponges at Deputy Mayor, Cllr Mike Elgin, who bravely volunteered to be locked in the stocks. This proved extremely popular and generated plenty of smiles and laughter.

There was something for everyone to enjoy, with activities ranging from hands-on encounters with snakes and other fascinating creatures to a wide variety of arts and crafts. Children also had great fun creating their own balloon snakes and taking part in the many interactive activities available throughout the day.

A delicious selection of cakes and refreshments helped keep energy levels high, and families took the opportunity to relax, socialise and enjoy quality time together.

The event was a wonderful success, providing young carers and their families with a well-deserved day of fun, friendship and support. Everyone involved had a fantastic time, and Credu would like to thank Rhuddlan Town Council, volunteers, activity providers and all those who helped make the day such a memorable occasion.
