Rhuddlan Mayor, Mike Elgin has officially opened Love North Wales Community Support Ltd’s new base on the HTM Business Park in Rhuddlan.

Mayor Elgin attended the ceremony and cut the ribbon to celebrate the group’s new 2,300sqft unit which houses the well-established foodbank as well as providing baby goods, clothes, medical aids, kitchenware and furniture to those in need.

He said: “I’m delighted that Love North Wales Community Support have chosen Rhuddlan as their base as the work they do across the entire North Wales community, not just locally in Denbighshire is incredible but its fantastic for Rhuddlan that their base is here.

“I was blown away by the fact Love North Wales Community Support have achieved everything they have to date with no funding at all, given how much they have done for thousands of people across the North Wales area, so I’ll be supporting as much as I can going forwards.”

The group is run entirely by volunteers and supports people from all over North Wales including Caernarfon, Anglesey, Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire and Wrexham. Group founder, Brian Taylor said: “We moved into our new base a couple of months ago and have been working hard to get everything redecorated and organised. The centre can be found at unit 19 HTM Business Park in Rhuddlan and is open 10am – 2pm Monday – Friday.

“Donations to our foodbank as well as new or very good condition clothing, furniture, kitchenware or toys are always welcome and can be dropped directly at the centre during opening hours or email: lovenorthwales@gmail.com to arrange collection.

“We’re also always looking for new volunteers, particularly anyone who can help with collections and deliveries and help at the centre to organise donations. We’ve recently partnered with Wates who are collecting Christmas donations including food, toys and other gifts for us to distribute locally to families in need. Anyone interesting in donating can also drop these donations off at our centre.”

Love North Wales Community Support was founded by Brian Taylor in 2019 as a local response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Over 8,000 members strong, the group now remains focused on helping and supporting the North Wales community, be that by volunteers offering unwanted household items and such for free, volunteering their time to respond to queries, collect / drop off items or simply be available for chat as well as being an accessible platform for those in need to ask for help, either within the group or privately.

Love North Wales Community Support aims to improve the quality of life of individuals and families experiencing poverty or distress in our local community by providing practical support.

They have an extensive and well stocked food bank, toiletries, baby goods, toys, children’s clothes, baby and premature baby clothes, and though our support network we have access to bedding, kitchen and other household items including furniture, bedding and kitchenware needed by individuals and families in crisis.
