New Defibrillator for Rhuddlan as a result of request from the 1st Rhuddlan Scouts Group
It started with a request from the 1st Rhuddlan Scouts group to Rhuddlan Town Council for a donation towards installing a lifesaving defibrillator at the Odyn located in Princes Road in Rhuddlan. The Scout Group had identified the need for a device at this location and were keen to help raise funds to make this happen. Working together, the council decided to purchase and install its seventh defibrillator at the Odyn if the Scouts Group agreed to fund its running costs for electricity to heat the defib cabinet. Working with Malcolm and Carol Boyton, the Scouts agreed to fund the running costs and also agreed to carry out the monthly checks to ensure this important piece of equipment is ready to be used.
Malcolm Boyton said “The Scouts Group had already raised £200 towards the defibrillator which it now intends to donate to the Heart Ward at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd”
Rhuddlan Town Mayor Cllr. Mike Kermode said “The Town Council is so pleased to have this defibrillator installed at the Scout Hut. It was great that the Scout Group were proposing to part-fund it but the Council has already installed defibrillators elsewhere in the town and it only seemed fair for us to fund this one as well. The Scout Group will now be donating the funds that they had raised for the defibrillator to the hospital’s Heart Ward – a great result for everyone – well done Rhuddlan Scout Group.”
