Remembrance Sunday – Rhuddlan Remembers
Hundreds of people turned out in Rhuddlan on a wet Sunday morning to pay their respects on Remembrance Sunday.
Officiating the event was Detective Chief Inspector Tim Wynne-Jones who did a great job getting the parade in order. The Parade was led by the Rhyl Marching Band closely followed the standard bearers led by Lisa Lee, serving Members of the Armed Forces, Veterans, Councillors, Cubs, Scouts, Beavers, Guides, Brownies, members of local organisations and groups and many local residents. The parade marched down Rhuddlan High Street to St Mary’s Church for the Remembrance Service led by the Rev Peter Mayo-Smith and assisted by Mayor Cllr. Mike Kermode and Cllr. Arwel Roberts.
After the service the parade made its way past Rhuddlan Castle back to the Rhuddlan Civic War Memorial located at the Community Centre. 2 minutes of silence was observed and 28 wreaths laid with the Mayor Cllr. Mike Kermode and Rev Peter Mayo-Smith officiating.
Tea and Coffee were served at the Rhuddlan Community Centre to warm everyone up after the event.
The Mayor, Cllr Mike Kermode said “there was a fantastic response from the community of Rhuddlan to pay respect to the fallen. It was heart-warming to see all the volunteers who worked so hard behind the scenes with arrangements and also to all the people who came and supported the event. I want to thank everybody from making Remembrance Sunday such a special tribute to remember those who gave so much for our freedom”.
