The weather was kind on Admiral’s Field in Rhuddlan on Saturday 2nd August for Rhuddlan Town Council’s Picnic in the Park and Volunteer Fair which had a VJ theme this year.
Visitors were treated to 5hrs of entertainment hosted by the talented Matty Roberts which included Beverley from Soul Station singing some 1940’s sing along songs. The Rhyl Youth Marching Band sounded fantastic playing music from the 1940’s to present day tunes. The Dyffryn Divas gave a fine melodic performance with plenty of songs sang in Welsh. The children were very well entertained by magician Andrew Green.
There was a great take up of children having a go of bowling on Rhuddlan Bowling Green and the Bowls Club served up a BBQ to help with raising funds for the Club. Plenty of visitors took time to walk around the very well-kept allotments.
The bouncy play equipment was most popular with children and was free to use. The large Volunteer Tent hosted 17 local groups and charities who raised approximately £1,400 between them for many good causes.
The event was visited by Rhuddlan Veteran Basil Pierce who will be celebrating his 100th birthday next month so everyone sang Happy Birthday to him, and a lovely cake was cut in his honour.
