Wildflower planting at Dementia Friendly Sensory area at Rhuddlan Nature Reserve

Rhuddlan’s Mayor, Cllr. Mike Elgin, the Deputy Mayor Cllr Mike Kermode, Denbighshire County Council’s Chairman, Cllr Arwel Roberts and Bradley Shackleton from Denbighshire County Council’s Countryside Service Team enjoyed a sunny morning planting wild flower plugs at the Dementia Friendly Sensory area at Rhuddlan’s Nature Reserve.  The three councillors are all members of Rhuddlan’s Dementia Group and Cllr. Roberts is the Group’s Chairman.  He said “The sensory area at the nature reserve is on its way to showing its full potential.  We have had a drystone wall built which will bring memories to many people, plus a number of benches in local timber.  We are now planting a range of wildflowers, many of which will provide smells which will also touch many people’s memories.  Nature will take its time to develop this wildflower area to the full but in time it will be wonderful place to visit, to sit in the sun and to enjoy the flowers and the views.”
